Thank you!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who have stopped by my little blog, for listening to my little rants and I hope it has helped you, as much as it has helped me.

I have been blessed beyond even my wildest imagination and reached all my goals and then some except for one, getting soaker hoses. LOL

It’s a beautiful day here almost perfect for BBQ the turkey, I still have the Mac & Cheese to make  that I’m doing this year and I’ll take it to my parent’s house for dinner.  This should save them from doing so much cleanup so they can enjoy the holiday as well.  I didn’t need to shop for anything except the turkey last week. It was wonderful not to battle the hordes at the local mega mart. I think I’m going to start a holiday dinner bin for the basic fixings of the meal.  I never cared much for crowds, and after the weekend I will shop for some of the traditional fixings and start the bin.

Bless you all and may you be a blessing to others!

Mom made a great little gravy from my drippings pan I deglazed with my dark ale. The last 60 minutes of cooking I put the giblets in the drip pan under the turkey in the BBQ and add about at least 20 oz. of my own home made dark ale. Mom added a little flour after pulling the giblets and the gravy was awesome. I think a little cream or 1/2 &1/2 would have made the gravy way over the top in taste.
I think I’m starting to get into that whole southern redneck cooking thing of my roots. While I was born and raised in Idaho my folks are from OK. and the Missouri breaks. I believe My Grandfather was 1/8th Cherokee, hell he was 80 acres worth back in the 1930’s dustbowl of OK. I have no idea what percentage that makes me. I figure folks start worrying about “Blue blood” when the red blood runs thin. My other Grand dad probably ran with the Younger’s and Might have been considered a guerrilla fighter with Quantrell’s raiders as a young man. Supposition on some family members part no confirmation.
