Recipe for pain relief salve using natural ingredients and essential oils.
Carrier oil: This can be one of many but so far I have used 8 oz. of either Grapeseed or Coconut oil
Hardnerner for the salve: Beeswax 1 oz. to 1.5 oz. depending on the texture you want.
10 drops of Lavender
12 drops of Eucalyptus
12 drops of Camphor
10 drops of Peppermint
I use a small crockpot on “low” to melt the beeswax and oil first, add the drops of essntial oils and then jar it in small Ball/mason jars while warm. The jar is not sealed.
Dry skin salve: I use Rice bran oil (naturally high in vitamin E) in place of coconut oil used the pain relief salve but the ratios are the same beeswax to rice bran oil.
Many Essential oil dry skin treatments lean very heavy on citrus oils but my family members seem to have a sensitivity to citrus oils.
The carrier oil to beeswax ratio is the same but for the dry skin cream I use:
10 drops of Lavender
5 drops of lemon grass
5 drops of Clove
10 drops of Bergamont/Orange mint 3-5 drops of Cinnamon oil
Most dry skin essential oils tend to skew heavy on acidic oils like lemon and orange oils, but my family members are sensitive to those type of oils. While it takes a bit of trial and error using essential oils. They do tend to work very well once you hit the optimal mix. Remember an essential oil mixture is a guideline and the oil mixture that works for me, you may have to tweak the recipe to work for you.
We are experimenting with Thieves Oil right now on the kids feet. Do you have experience with that oil?
OJD: I have read wonderful things about Thieves oil but have not tried it out yet. You might check out Back Door Survival in my blog roll. She is big into using essential oils and might be able to assist you.
Great. Thanks!
Am about to make some oregano oil and cinnamon oil, also have capsules to ingest oregano. Supposed to be great, I know the oil is.
